It was an honor for me to interview the great Charlie Daniels in April, 2019. Charlie and I spoke about his new album, Beau Weevils - Songs In The Key Of E and his love for the blues. He has a deep respect for the music and it's artists and you can hear that in everything he has recorded throughout his 50 year + career. The blues is there, in all of it. Charlie is the definition of gentleman. I've spoken with and been around a who's who in this business and I can say, without a doubt, that Charlie is one of the greatest guys around. He has a spirit about him that makes you feel very welcome. He carries himself with a class and humbleness that others who have achieved far less should look to for example. It was great speaking with you Charlie. Thanks for the great interview!
So great and such an honor to speak with former Eagles guitarist Don Felder in May, 2019. Don had just released a new album, American Rock n Roll. We talked about his early years, his inspirations, and of course the great, new album. It always amazes me when you find someone as humble and down to earth as Don, even after they have achieved the level of success that he has. There's no ego, no big head, and no attitude. He is one of the easiest guys on the planet to talk to. We both laughed constantly through this interview, it was almost contagious! Thanks for a great interview Don! This is one of my most memorable to date for sure! And thanks for all of the great music through the years!
Such an honor to interview Rock Legend Mark Farner recently. He has penned some of the greatest songs of all time. With Grand Funk Railroad and on his own, Mark's music serves as a life soundtrack for so many. Currently touring with Mark Farner's American Band, he's playing many of those great tunes he penned and then some, sounding better than ever! We talked about his early years, the Blues, what hard earned success feels like, and he even discussed his on stage guitar set up! We really hit it off talking and it was a real honor. Mark's a down to Earth music man who's as real as they come. Thanks for a great interview Mark!
Robin Trower is a Blues/Rock legend, and it was a real honor to interview him in April 2019. Robin had just released his new album Coming Closer To The Day. We spoke about his early years, when he started playing guitar, and what keeps him going after all these years in the business. He was on the road and set to play a show in Austin,Texas the following evening. Thanks for a great interview and thanks for all the great music over the years Robin!
Lynyrd Skynyrd. They are an iconic American Rock and Roll band on every level. So many of us grew up with their songs, and I have used those songs as reference and learning points for all of my students though the years. It was an honor for me to speak with the great Rickey Medlocke from Skynyrd and Blackfoot just before Christmas last month. The interview is featured in the current issue of Buddy Guy's Legends "BG Blues and Music News" Bluesletter. Being in this business all these years, I've been around pretty much everyone and anyone. Especially during my time out with B.B., I was very fortunate to rub shoulders with some big names. I've seen people with not much credit to their name strut around with huge heads like they're some kind of Rock Gods, and I've seen people with WAY more credit to their names be extremely down to Earth. So it's so refreshing when you speak with someone like Rickey Medlocke and find out he truly is Salt of the Earth. Rickey has more credits to his name than so many out there, yet he is one of the most down to Earth, laid back guys I've met, and he has nothing but love for his fans and everyone that loves him and his Music. He's a true American Music Legend. Click on the images below and read away!! Thanks for the great interview Rickey! It was great to talk to you.
Felix Cavaliere is a true music legend. He has raised the bar for what is to be expected with great musicianship and songwriting. I had the honor of speaking with Felix recently and catching one of his live shows. I can say, without a doubt, that Cavaliere has lost nothing over the years! If anything, his playing and voice are at the top of their game in 2019! Don't miss this man live if you get a chance to see him! We had a great time talking about his beginnings, his influences, and the business of Rock n Roll. Thanks for a great interview Felix!
So great to do an interview/review with one of my biggest influences, one of MY teachers and a guy I've learned so much from- the great Jim McCarty recently! The interview/review is all about Jim's new solo CD release: "Talkin' To Myself" and is featured in the current issue of Buddy Guy's Legends "BG Blues and Music News" Bluesletter. This album is Jim's best work to date and what makes it extra special is that Jim plays everything you hear on the album. I've studied Jim's work from the moment I picked up a Guitar. Make no mistake, I wouldn't be doing what I do today had it not been for all that I learned from Jim and his awesome Music. It literally has been a text book on "the right way to do this" for me. Jim is one of the greatest guys out there. He is a true living Legend and his work with Mitch Ryder and The Detroit Wheels as well as his bands Cactus and The Rockets has influenced everyone who has picked up the Guitar from 1965 and onward..even if they don't realize it! More importantly though, Jim is doing his best work right now, as this album shows him at the top of his game!
